Seriously, as if my day wasn't absolutely horrible as it was. Dealing with the pain of an absessed tooth, as well as a girlfriend who's SUPREMELY pissed at me, on valentines day no less. Decided to play some poker since I'm home alone, not getting any. BAD idea.
Ugh, seriously absolutely horrid luck at the table tonight. I literally went 20 10man STT in a row without so much as a min-cash. THIS is the kind of crap I've been dealing with all night:

Like really, wtf is he 4-betting and then calling my 5-bet shove with fucking AJ suited? Like wow, what part of my 3-bet and then shove didn't cry out "Omg I have fucking aces, fold you moron"?
Overall, was down 20 BI right before I was about to end my session, but managed to ship my last 2 so ended up down just 9-buyins, less the points I won from one of the Cash Cards I earned from the promo they are currently running. FML.
Finished the session -34.8% ROI, while my adjusted EV graph shows I should have run around +23%. Nothing like running cold and way under expectation. At least I played well.

Super turbo Sngs are freaking swingy
Played a small 30 game super turbo sng session tonight. Swung from -100% ROI(yes, that's right, I tanked EVERY SINGLE ONE) at the beginning, to finish with a ROI of around +4%. Managed to play catch up at the end, and after blanking like 20 in a row, I got first in like 4, and a couple 2nds/3rds.
Still amazed at just how much variance there can be in supers, I've played longer sessions, and seen similar downswings, but I guess it's been a while since I've sat down and played these, so it was a bit of a shock.

My first Final Table
I used to be a single table sit n go grinder on Full tilt until they got shut down. Since I had my entire roll on there, I was left with a decision. Deposit somewhere else, or stop playing until Full Tilt sorted their issues out.
Since I really didn't like the idea of depositing more money, I decided to snoop around and see if there was any free bankroll sites around. I figured I'd get a free roll and piss around at the micros until Full Tilt came back up.
Well I ended up signing up at www.bankrollmob.com/?t=16111 and getting hooked up with a $25 free starting roll on Party Poker.
Been playing for about a month now, crushing the NL cash games, was up to around $100 until I tilted off half my roll playing blackjack. Word to the wise, NEVER use your poker roll to play casino games.
So today I decided to play the 1.5k Guaranteed freeroll on Party. I know, I know it's a freeroll. I vowed I'd NEVER again play these after I had ground up my roll on Full Tilt. But desperate times, desperate measures so the saying goes.
Anyways, 4095 players and I managed to make it to 8th. I'm pretty excited by the results as it puts me in a position where I can finally comfortably move up stakes. My goal was to be grinding $4NL by the end of august, and having achieved that, my new goal is to be grinding $10NL by the end of september.

My first ever royal flush.
I have a youtube channel, where I've been posting up strategy videos and covering news topics in the poker world.
Here's a recent video I did, showing my first ever royal flush. This hand was played on a 9man single table sit n go at Full Tilt quite some time ago.

My long poker journey
Hello, my name is Justin and I've been an avid poker player for over 2 years now.
Over the years, I'd play the odd home game here and there, with friends and family. You know, just the typical "fun game" that often ended up with bitter arguing over whether a straight beat a flush or not, or if check-raising was allowed.
I don't remember what exactly got me started playing online, but I do remember feeling overwhelmed the first time I sat at a table. And that was just playing play chips.
After a while playing with fun money and reading the odd article, I figured I was an expert so I decided to make a small $30 deposit. Well how wrong I was. That $30 lasted me all of around an hour or 2 at the .01/.02 cash games.
I remember feeling angry, blaming everyone but myself for the losses. After all, I was an expert. I knew everything there was to know about the game right? Well, I ended up making a few more small deposits, $20 here, $30 there. And it was always the same result. I'd lose it in no time flat and end up mad all over again.
After around my 5th deposit, I decided to do more reading and started to watch some videos. It was a real eye opener for me, realising that I was playing absolutely horribly, making just about every mistake a begginer does. The 5th deposit lasted me a lot longer this time, but I was still losing money pretty consistantly.
I read more articles and decided to start giving single table sit n go's a try. They seemed to offer a lot of value for begginers, as you got to play a lot more hands for $1 than you would at a cash table. I ended up blowing the last $5, but before that I did end up cashing in a few so I made it last quite a while this time before ultimately going bust again.
After the 5th deposit, I decided to make 1 more deposit. I told myself I'd stick to playing the sit n go's this time, and if I went broke again I would stop playing. Well I deposited another $20 and this time things changed. I started playing better and started consistantly winning. Over time I managed to win back all the money I had lost, plus started building a rather healthy roll. I made a few small withdrawls along the way to reward myself.
Today, I reflect on the player I used to be, and how much progress I've made since then. I still don't consider myself an expert, but I work hard to constantly improve my game. It is my goal to someday make a career out of poker and I know with dedication I will get there.
